Maxwell Evrard

Music Director/Conductor

Maxwell Evrard was selected to be Lexington Pops Chorus's Music Director and Conductor in January 2024. Max also directs the choirs and teaches music at Somerville High School in Somerville, MA, and is the choir director at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Lexington, MA. He holds a Bachelor’s of Music from DePaul University and a Master’s in Music Education from Florida State University. He has received multiple grants to compose and perform his original music. His students have consistently performed at NAfME Nationals, All-Eastern, All-State, and at the district level.

Max's teaching is influenced by his musicology interests and experiences, and he draws from a wide range of musical genres to show his students, singers, and audiences the true nature of music as the universal emotional language. He has performed as a singer, pianist, and instrumentalist in a wide variety of roles. He loves to play banjo in the clawhammer style, although some would debate whether that is performance or disturbance.

Max lives in Lexington with his partner Elena, who sings locally and teaches voice at Harvard, his 1-year-old daughter Luisa, and his two dogs, Bowie and Bongo.
